About Us
Three of the talents behind popular restaurant CITRUS in Ojochal join forces to propose a catering & private chef service with a whole new feel to it. Chef-owner Marcella Marciano, manager Maude & ex-Maître D Fabián unite to share their passion for flavors through their art, making sure that every experience is unique and worthwhile. They propose various themes and a ray of cuisines going from elevated Costarican gastronomy to Moroccan or Mediterranean specialties. Coming from different backgrounds, they wish for their customers to live an experience throughout their cuisine, from fine dining events, large weddings or smaller private events.
Marcella Marciano
Chef owner of famous Citrus in Ojochal de Osa in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica, Marcella Marciano is the daughter of a Swedish mother and a Moroccan father, himself restaurant entrepreneur. Born in Belgium but raised in Montreal, she started working at an early age in her father’s renowned establishments until she moved to Costa Rica in 1996 where she founded various well-known restaurants (Exotica & Umami between others).
Also an interior designer, Marcella has had a passion for art & flavors forever. As she evolved in the culinary world, her multicultural background and various travels around the Globe greatly influenced her style of cooking. She loves to create and gets inspired to reinterpret some of the classics while adding her personal touch to make them original. Always wearing a contagious smile, her food is filled with her ‘joie de vivre’ and every meal that she serves is packed with flavors. Add to this a variety of colors, spices, aromatics and local ingredients and enjoy a gastronomic yet not pretentious cuisine.
Fabián Barrantes Arias
In love with cooking since is young age, Fabián is very grateful to his mother who was his first master. Passionate about cooking with the objective of exploring flavors, he has a lot of experience as a cook in various establishments of the area (such as Oxygen Jungle Villas & Charter in Dominical) as well as offering his Chef at Home services in many of the most popular houses of Costa Ballena. With the desire to continuously grow more in his culinary exploration, Fabián, a lover of his ancestors’ home cooking, seeks to elevate it to a gastronomic level. The artist’s goal is promote it and present it to people in new forms, with a more modern twist while being true to its roots and respecting the freshness of the produce. Working as a Maître D with Marcella from 2017 to 2023, Fabián has a contagious enthusiasm that our clients adore, always striving to make each experience unique and personalized.
Maude Voyer-Martel
Born and raised in Montreal, Maude worked as a waitress for years until she decided to reorient herself in gastronomy after studying Communications & Marketing. After graduating from prestigious ITHQ culinary school in Montreal, she worked in a 5-star hotel in Spain and in various gastronomical venues in Montreal, including SAT-Foodlab restaurant and now-closed Restaurant Laloux where she evolved for four years. Thanks to various young and passionate chefs under whose arms she was trained, Maude has been living in Costa Rica since 2016 where she is now raising her two children. Having had the chance to visit and live in various countries around the Globe, her knowledge of gastronomy and enthusiasm to taste new ingredients and eat local cuisines reflects in her day to day life. Both trained as a chef and as a waitress, she has been working in popular CITRUS as manager where her love and passion to satisfy the customer’s palate is shared with her team. Her main objective through this adventure is to offer special culinary experiences as well as a great customer service from the very planning of the event until the end.
